Eighteen Missed Free Throws Hinders Mad Titans Amazing Effort Versus The Caimans

The ASA Manhattan Mad Titans traveled to the Bronx on Sunday afternoon to face the Hostos Caimains. Hostos entering the game with a 6-1 record and 6-0 against NJCAA Division 3 opponents provided a great test for the Mad Titans.  The game started out with multiple lead changes with ASA Manhattan securing a 20-18 lead midway thru the first half.  A 14-4 Caimains run pushed their lead to double digits.  The Mad Titans rallied back to cut the deficit to 6 points but gave up a crucial lay up at the buzzer to give Hostos a 47-39 lead.

Second half action saw the game stay between 6 to 12 points in favor of the Caimans.  The Mad Titans tried to fight back numerous times but were hindered by their own mistakes as they gave up 24 turn overs and missed 18 free throws (28-46).  Yet, the Mad Titans were led by an amazing effort by their bench which included Justin Wilson's 11 points, 7 rebounds, and  4 assists. Tawaun Bryan also added 11 points and 5 rebounds along with Cole Grant's 7 points.  Joshua Been continued his streak of double-doubles with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mad Titans fall to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in NJCAA Region 15 play. Up next for the Mad Titans is a home contest (100 Dobbin Street, Brooklyn, NY) this Tuesday at 5pm against ASA Brooklyn JV.
